This Artist Is Coming to Snatch Wigs

Your playlist is boring, and that’s because a certain artist is not in your music library–so let’s change that. If you’re ready to move your hips to a different type of stereo, then prepare to learn and listen to by an artist that goes by the name of JAMYSON! The man who reels you in with the phenomenal beats first and tugs at your heart in many ways with the amazing lyricism.

Who is JAMYSON?

JAMYSON made his musical debut on September 24, 2022, with his lead single ‘Someone New,’ followed by his first EP ‘Trilogy’ that dropped on November 18, 2022. ‘Trilogy’ encapsulated the different emotional stages of heartbreak. Over time, his music evolved, and he dropped ‘The Sunken Place’ EP on March 17, 2023. Over the course of 2023 and 2024, he would go on to release a few more singles and an EP that were still phenomenal, but he felt like something was missing. After a two-year hiatus, JAMYSON has returned to the scene refreshed, restored, renewed, and revitalized!

But there would be no JAMYSON without Myles. This multifaceted artist took something that was just an outlet separate from himself and merged his two worlds, resulting in the birth of JAMYSON. The name JAMYSON and the way it’s spelled is a testament to who Myles is as a creative: unconventional, eclectic, but also relatable. Myles took his middle name, Jameson, the unique spelling he loves in his first name, and combined them into a new, brave, and creative stage name: JAMYSON! You have to admit, a one-word stage name that’s catchy. Myles himself even spoke on the truth that all the greats [in the industry] have one-word stage names that roll off the tongue. As Kavon and I spoke with Myles, we learned that JAMYSON used to be an escape from the stresses of the real world, and that he evolved it into his permanent approach to his view of life itself.

“JAMYSON really is a beacon of liberation in my own lived experience and such a nuanced embodiment of my emotions and thoughts that I didn’t always have an outlet for.” – JAMYSON.

The highs and lows of life that we as young adults deal with–the constant trial and error–along with the good days (and the bad) is something that JAMYSON drew from to add to the permanent approach towards his view of life. That is what the music is about—navigating the grievance of relationships, finding yourself, and rediscovering what love is to not only him, but to us listeners–and most importantly, gay Black men. In this current state of music, there’s little to no room for minorities to truly thrive.

“A lot of times in the digital age, there is very little room for introspection or imperfection. Everything is curated, and typically, for marginalized folks, we are forced to be curated in other people’s likeness (or their perceptions of us). I believe that in order to truly find joy in this life, you have to be willing to see the worst parts of what you’ve been through and face them head-on. And no one is perfect in that, but we all are better off as imperfect humans with pure hearts. The alternative is losing yourself in a machine that was never meant for your success in the first place.” – JAMYSON

“So Why Now?”

It’s a question that fans and I alike are asking. Why has JAMYSON decided to return to the music scene again? Some creatives would say something along the lines of “Why not?” JAMYSON, on the other hand, believes that while his previous bodies of work served a great purpose in his personal journey, he is being called back to create bodies of work that transcend himself and speak to the collective generational struggles. With the world being in a state of turmoil, JAMYSON is one of the individuals betting on himself and taking the risk to release bodies of work meant to make the change we need to see.

“Music is meant to be a reflection of culture and I desire to amplify the voices of those who get overlooked in our culture while helping people find theirs as well.” – JAMYSON

What Does JAMYSON Have In Store For Us?

All I can say is you’re not ready! JAMYSON’s next single will really get the people moving. Best believe you’ll want to hear this on someone’s rooftop this summer!

JAMYSON believes that the single gives people a great hint at what to expect from his album while still leaving listeners with a lot to anticipate, and I’ll say this is actual factual (haha)!

“I love how fun it was to make this song while still giving people space to see themselves in the message. As black queer people, love looks different for us because of the labels and boxes that we are placed in. That can lead us to feel jaded in finding connection and ultimately avoid it altogether. There were so many moments in my early 20’s as a baby gay where I chose to chase after guys with no attachments around me because there were no feelings involved and it was instant gratification (even if it wasn’t good for me in the long run). We have all had that experience in our community where we know they will make us feel good in the here and now, even though we desire to feel more. Many times, we are scared to want more for ourselves because we don’t feel like we deserve it. I hope that this single gives people the space to feel those hard emotions and dance them away. They’ll be able to do that a lot with this album; I guarantee you won’t be bored for one second of your first listen. I wanted to not just make a compilation of songs, but honestly, a sonic universe that you can get lost in. So there is definitely a lot of good music on the way. Very very soon.” – JAMYSON
